Jeep and Dodge unveil 6 new drool-worthy vehicles

    http://blogs.fourwheeler.com/6239582...les/index.html

"We'll have a detailed overview of these rigs in the August issue of Four Wheeler and the coverage will include off-the-hook photography of these rigs going psycho in the sand. You won't want to miss it. For now, feast your eyes.

Hemi JK: This black JK is called the "JKL" and it has a 110-inch wheelbase, 37-inch tires, a 4-inch suspension lift and a lusty 6.1L Hemi V-8. Can you say POWER-TO-WEIGHT ratio?

Dana 60 JK: Called the "All-access," this JK premiered at the '07 SEMA show, but it's being trotted out again to highlight a new mod; the upcoming "MILITARY-SPEC" and "performance-upgraded" Dana 60 rear axle that will be available through Mopar Performance.

Diesel TJ: This rig is an engineering mule that has been fitted with the 2.8L 4-cylinder DIESEL engine. It was built to explore the feasibility of integrating a diesel engine kit in the TJ vehicle system. It has an Aisin 5-speed and an NV241 t-case.

Cummins Power Wagon: Yep, they FINALLY built one! It's sporting the 6.7L Cummins diesel along with 40-inch tires, a KORE suspension and all the usual smokin' PW goodies. Drool.

J8 Sarge: Oh man, where to start? This ULTRA-COOL non-combat military support vehicle has a 116-inch sheelbase; Dana 60 rear axle set on leaf springs; a 2.8L turbodiesel engine; hood-mounted air intake snorkel; and much more. It's made in Cairo, Egypt.

Liberator II: A Liberty like no other, this KK has a rear ARB Air Locker, rock rails, brushguard, cat-back exhaust, 33-inch tires and a 2-inch lift. Will the Liberty now get some RESPECT?"

check the article for pics of all the rigs. Pretty sweet stuff!!!

Now, if they'd only start making that Cummins Power Wagon. I don't know what they were thinking excluding the diesel engine option w/ that truck when it became a production vehicle.

Realistically, don't expect to see any of them in production. It's just like everything else the unveil...one of a kind, you'll never get your own, unless you have deep pockets and build your own.

I have heard some promising comments on a JK-based pickup. Hopefully DC comes through!

Will probably end up being an AEV deal, like the last couple of good concepts they never came through on.

everytime they come out with a concept vehicle and they dont put it into production. where does the actual concept vehicle go? does it get crushed or what?

I hope they don't get crushed; thats a waste. I know Ford auctioned off a bunch of old concepts a couple years ago. Also rumor has it that the jeep gladiator was on display at the Rochester Auto Show so its still kicking around somewhere. Gm usually has old concepts on display at Gm world. One year they had corvette concepts. It was cool to see what they thought future cars would look like in the 60s and 70s.

Either way if they are getting crushed its a shame. I remember the first year we went to Detroit my dad saw concepts that were in magazines when he was a kid. I think it would be cool to see and for our kids to see these cars 40 some years from now.

Most of the company's have warehouses where they store a lot of that kind of stuff. Also some of them end up in museums in and around Detroit that have some of them as well.

The one thing that Chrysler has been good at is releasing vehicles that no one thought they ever would, so, we'll see.

Most old concepts float between less significant auto shows. Go to the one in Pittsburgh to see what I mean. They usually have one's like the Willy's II etc.
