Thinking about getting a old jeep truck

I was going to a small engine repair shop today to get a point replacement and on the way back I saw this other this little bridge, a old 1940's jeep truck it is rusty condition with a chevy 6cyl in it with a T90. He's looking for best offer what do you think its worth? He was saying around 300-400.

Also drove past Bluesparks place seems he's got some buggies.

I was planning on cutting off the bed and making a bed out of 2x4's and use it as a scrap hauler. Though I'd restore the front.

That is pretty sweet, I'd fix just enough stuff to get it road worthy then drive it as is.

Buy it, but I would think twice about getting rid of the bed. It looks like it has an original floor in the bed and that might be rarer than the rest of the truck.

Just curious, did you look at the tags and see when it was last registered? Not that it means anything, but that looks like a damn old plate...it looks like it was before even the last round of yellow plates which were in the 80's.

Yeah, that bed looks to be in pretty decent shape, I'd to what i can to save it.

Went to look at it this morning, its a 1947 so 61 years and it ran rather good once we tightened the clamp on the fuel line so it wasnt pouring gas all over the ground. (mouse fell out of the dash when he hit the gas )
Its a chevy straight six, frame looks great, dont know what transmission it has or what transfer case is has other than its a dual stick.
The front leafs look like there from another truck, why would I say that? I looked at the data tag on the fire wall and this truck was orginally a 2wd with a hurrican 4 cyl. The transfer case and front drive shaft/axle are newer (possibly rear axle as well it should be a dana 53, but doesn't look like it)
The body other than the bed looks ok(the bed looks OK in the pictures but underneath it is just rust, or some old under coating and the sidewall have stainless welded over them probably more rust.), but inside the cab I'd have to replace most of the floor since its just a network of patches and the bottoms of the doors and door frames have rusted out, so some creative bending and weldinf of some sheet metal.
I think I could get it running good and street legal for $150ish. $200 if I want it want it semi good looking.

Any body have check list of the requirenment for a truck to pass safety inspection?

And as for the last question the last tag on the plate was from 89' then he used it for a few years to plow his drive way, then let it sit.

Doesn't matter, the arse took it to the scrap yard on saturday, I had $400 in my wallet and called him to see about buying it, and transfering the title he said my offer of 300 of not enough and took it to the scrap yard on saturday!!!!!
Asked him how much he got for it and he said 'some' and from the sound of his voice he got less than my 300.

Time to look for a cheap CJ8 or M715
