    Rust

    Getting ready to purchase this. Got sent some pics and this is what the rack looks like:


    Is this something that will be a problem or can be fixed easily?

    Its a roof rack....its steel...its going to rust anyway.

    But yes, just sand it down and re-spray it. The rust doesnt look too bad, it looks like the steel just started to rust where the paint chipped/flaked. If you want to get real particular about it, you could sand the whole thing down and respray it. A couple coats of clear might help with the paint chipping/rusting in the future too.

    x2, I had one and sold it about 2 years later, I like the cleaner more fuel efficient look anyways...

    its not swiss cheese yet, you should see my frame haha.

    Sand it, prime it, paint and repeat as needed.

    API sells some cool stuff great for frames or any rusted metal called POR15 u can just brush it right over the rust it seals it it wont rust agin and it is tough as nails

    If its powdercoat (looks like it), and there is rust....it will be back. No matter WHAT you coat the surface with. Pretty much true for any metal part.

    Rust > Coatings applied over it

    I am going to sand down the rust, then apply some rust to primer stuff then put a few coats of paint over it. Got it for 175, thought that was a pretty decent deal.
