Does it have the lifetime warranty? If so, just keep changing it out. It might get old after awhile, but it costs nothing. You could also find an old waggy steering box, they work good.

I usually have better luck with autozone stuff than advanced auto junk. Like stated above, I would check to see if it was under warranty.

Gear boxes from places like autozone and advance are notorious for being hit or miss. I know guys that have gone through 4 in a 2 yr span.

I found a used PSC box that turns the 33's like butter

Durango steering box swaps are common for any Jeep, hell tapping the box for hydro assist is common.

The Durango box works on the XJ as well. Search around but I think you want the one for a 4x4 Durango with out the snow package.

    98-99 years.

That's what I'm running. First one from NAPA lasted about 8 months, then it was worse than the one it replaced. Got it warrintied but before I put it in, I checked the tollarances, it was all f'd up. No wonder they didn't work. Guess that's what the assembeled in Mexico should have warned me of.

So I re-set all of the adjustments, and while I was at it tapped it for Hydro-assist. Been going strong since.
