    Rifle used

Just seeing what everyone uses for their deer rifle(s)

I use a 308 with over grained bullet ballistic tips.
Although I did have 1 hollow point in the clip that exploded the heart.

I love my 308, I hunt in thick brush, and not a lot of long shots are taken. It's older and i'm thinking of getting a new or another rifle. Synthetic stock 308
    or possibly a 300mag. Haven't decided yet.

Marlin 30-30. I hunt in both thick brush but will sometimes get a long shot depending on where I go. My cousin showed me some hollow points I guess they started making for these.

When I used to hunt, it was with the Browning A-Bolt II, Stainless Stalker, 7mm Rem. Mag. Nikon 4.5-14x50mm scope. Winchester CXP 140gr. Ballistic Silvertips...that was for outside of Allegheny County.

Within Allegheny county, it was the Remington 1187 SPS 12ga. Cantilever barrel w/ a Burris 3x9 tactical scope, 3" Remington Copper Solid sabot slugs, through a rifled choke.

Oh, that Browning rifle is for sale BTW.

200 yds and under - Ruger M77 Mark II Laminated Stainless 30-06 shooting 165 gr Remington Green Box Ammo. 3-9 Tasco World Class Scope

Farther than 200 - Remington 700 7mm STW w/ 6-24x42 scope. This is the first year for this gun and a new treestand. I got a shot at 450 and hit the buck. Unfortunately I lost the blood trail and found it the next morning after something chewed on it all night. The think that sucks is we were 50 yds from finding the deer that night.

Most of my deer have been killed with those stick thingies though.
Current bow is a Bowtech Mighty Mite shooting gold tips arrows and spitfire 100gr heads.

And for after xmas - 50 cal lyman deerstalker. I can't hit shit with that damn gun.

Steve- If that gun was chambered in a 325 WSM I'd be all over it. That'll be my next one.

For the most part I use an older Remington 700 .308, loaded with Barnes triple shock bullets. If I'm in the brush I take the Remington 600 to keep from snagging limbs.

I may change to the same rifle in stainless and 308.

Remington 700 BDL stainless 7mm mag with a Leupold 3x9x40. Usually use Hornady 139 grain BTHP, never had a deer take a step after the shot. If I'm driving in the thick stuff I take my Marlin Guide Gun in .450 Marlin.

Remmington 721 in 270. Usually 150 grain Nosler Partition tip, but have used 115 grain for groundhog.

For driving out through brush; I like my Dad's old 35 Remmington Pump, 200 grain corelokt soft point I think...haven't used it in years.

This seemed to work. Why change it?
