it has the 4.0L. it also has the crysler 8.25 axle. you gotta be careful with that though. someone told me on here that mid 96 and newer used the chrysler 8.25 axle which is not true. ONLY the xj's that DID NOT have antilock brakes used the chrysler 8.25 axle. the ones that had ABS still used the dana 35.

i knew what it looked like before i bought it ben. this xj does not have abs and the pumpkin has the flat cast across the bottom. thats an easier way to tell without the measuring. the d35 is round at the bottom rear of the pumpkin. chrysler is flat across the bottom. besides, i couldn't find my dial calipers in that 2 foot pile of tools on my work bench anyway. it's definately an 8,25 in mine. i gotta head out to the pic-a-part soon and get some skids for this xj. its a really low optioned truck and is naked underneath.

Good Luck! They Dont have anything for newer XJ's.

First thing I'd suggest is find a decent sized trans cooler to keep everything nice and cool.

If your looking for some nice skid plates, check out TnT Customs or DPG offroad. They both make some nice belly skids that will keep your transfer case and transmission pan safe! Skidrow and DPG make nice gas tank skids as well.

this is kinda a low budget deal. other than new tires and that cheap lift kit, i think most other parts (skid plates, tow hitches, etc..) are coming from a junk yard.

i know of a few other local yards where i may be able to pick up some factory skid plates from. i'de like to get at least the xfr case and gas tank skids for starters. maybe even 2 gas tank skids so i can fab up an oil pan skid from the extra one.

It just means Dunbar was the One Ton King when he didn't even own anything on one tons.

    Oh and Dunbar,

At the rate I'm going I'll never break a 44 shaft again! Especially when they are sitting in the box in the garage!
