    Antique firearms

Is anybody here into antique firearms? I have a family collection that I need to select from before it gets split up. Some kentucky rifles and other muzzle loaders, a few percussion cap revolvers, and early repeater rifles.

Nothing is for sale but I need to select what I want for myself. If anybody has some knowledge in this area and wouldn't mind answering a few questions or looking at some pictures, please let me know.

What is the approximate vintage of these? Any more specifics? I wonder if they are too old to be in the blue book of gun values? There are some antique firearm forums, too.

Here is a link to a few pictures I just took. A relative has taken it upon himself to begin dividing out the collection and I don't want to get the leftover junk. It would also be nice to get an idea if anything is really worth some $$ so I know the owner is getting a fair price from the family members who are buying.

I don't have a lot of time to research, but if there is anything that stands out, please let me know. I have some data on the guns too if you want to know something specific about any of them.

For example, the one fullsize revolver in the top of a picture (with the goofy dual trigger) has 11 notches on the bottom. Apparently it is civil war era navy. I kind of like it and would also like the Henry repeater, think the one Kentucy Riflle on top is great too. It doesn't show well with the cell pics, but it is great tiger maple.

    Thanks

I'd just like to get some to keep passing down my side of the family... now which ones?

Are any of them family heirlooms? There is alot of history there, would be tough to decide. Especialy with other people wanting their piece of the pie. It's a really nice collection by the way.

Now you individual pics of each piece with a little bio and every mark on the gun mapped out. Some of them I don't even know what they are.

My (wife's) grandfather has been collecting all his life but to my knowledge, none have a historical family tie. If anything did, it was lost when he died. His wife is still alive and wants them to be sold. I'd like to keep the collection together, but there are only three of us interested and none can afford to but them all. I just want to pick a few nice ones to pass down someday.

I do have a booklet of info he put together with makes, markings, etc. and values from 1989. It was est. at $30,000 then.
