Parker Metal Products in Tarentum stocks them. Around $100. Cash talks at that place.

a Lincoln 110v mig. its a cheaper one, so i cant convert it to gas, but it'll weld some surprisingly thick steel if you go slow and turn the heat up. i sorta picked up welding last summer by my neighbor, he got taught at PIA, so he knows what hes doin. im still messin roud with diff wire thicknesses, but .035 seams to work the best sor far fo the thick stuff.

You said you work with sheetmetal a lot...what size wire are you running for that? What heat setting, flux core or solid core wire?

.035 works okay, .030 has worked the best, i havent tried .025

my settings^ i dont know what low 1 is, but its pretty damn low, it wont even form a bead. it leaves like > < big of a tack when i do sheat metal, so it'll hold the metal, but you can grind on it to make it smooth without it it falling out. in fact, if im not careful, it'll burn though alittle.

Those are not tack welds. They're unsafe boogers. I hope you're not planning on welding anything of substantial thickness, or strength. This is the shit that scares me...

thats not a bead, a bead would over heat the metal and warp the hell out of it, its a bunch of tacks, i just didnt knock the slag off, i lost my chipping hammer last night when i did the outside skin of tailgate.

those aren't beads? and if you know what you're doing you can weld beads on sheet metal.

Mike, those aren't tacks. Theres almost no penetration there at all.

Honestly, If you want to learn....PM me in the springtime when we get back in the garage for summer builds. I'm right down the road from you. And I'd rather show someone the right way than watch them hot-glue metal together blindly.

Doesn't look like that welder has separate voltage/wire-speed control either. Low power Flux-core is fine for sheetmetal, but you need the adjustability of at least a stepped control. Infinite control makes your life easier, but its easy to fawk up if you're new to it.

hell stop over my house sometime I have the welder out. I'll teach ya few things but i'd much rather use a solid wire and shielding gas for sheet metal. Flux Core requires more heat to burn

Is there an orientation to the pictures? What exactly are they? Don't know how to weld but don't know what I am looking at either except a piece of metal and a hole in it. What did you weld?
Its never the program, always the programmer.
