"Dr. J" North Park Downhill Run Report

Lets just say its a crazy run... Fallen tree drops between trees, log bridges, rock gardens, ect... And its not easy either, I have to say im impressed.

If you plan to hit this trail, wear armor. This trail is not for the average rider, you CANNOT take the drops slowly or you will go over end. Also be sure your bike can take the drops and hits.

Location is up by the pool across from the "Pie Trainor" parking lot. Its a bit hard to find as its pretty narrow at the top, but when you do spot it, you will know you have found it. The first drop is steep, with a quick left turn so be ready to grab some rear brake or you WILL loose it.

I thought NP was off limits to non-bike path bikes? I stopped in the park office a number of years ago (maybe 10-12) to see if they had a map I could buy. They said no mountain biking was allowed anyplace in the park. So what's the deal now?
It's not illegal, it's frowned upon.

I know. I used to ride them, but when I actually asked is when they said no-can-do.

Thats completely false. Mountain bikes are certainly allowed. Most people dont know that its the bikers that actually keep up and maintain the trails.

As far as maps, I'd have to start digging to find some.. I know there are a lot out there that different people have posted.

    These should get you started:

It wasn't false 10 years ago, I just didn't know what the deal was now. Either that or the nice park office lady decided to play a prank on me that day and I was dumb enough to believe her.

Regardless, I don't ride anymore. Too out of shape and not planning on fixing it anytime soon.

    Just curious, thanks.

I'm with Brian (of course I am, because that's my name). Ten years ago when I was still riding in high school, it was totally illegal and I'd had the cops called on me several times. It sounds like now it's cool.
It's about to get all kinds of stupid up in here!
