So i found a jeep i had to have... I was looking for a 4.0 to swap into a buddy's CJ and this guy told me he had one... then we get to talking and he has an entire jeep! so i hit him up to see what he'd want for the whole thing. He was reasonable and i figured what the heck.
2004 jeep wrangler columbia edition
178k miles
AC (works!)
5 speed
good tires, good top, decent body
full hard doors (soon up for trade for half doors)
good top (windows need some love, they're pretty cloudy)
Edge programmer, throttle body, intake.
ok so the bad. it has some frame rot i'm going to have to deal with. Probably end up with a safe t cap.
Drivers side fender is rotten on top. it has a rust spot in the rocker and on the windshield frame.
Also, the guy told me the rear end blew... but it rolls. and it has a broken ujoint. so i'm wondering if the ujoint just let go and he assumed it went.. because the pinion bearing feels good. and there's no play. I'll know more once i get it home and apart. (picking it up friday).
Anyway, on to the pics.
the good:
AAAAAND the bad
So this isn't going to be one i sink tons and tons of money into. Knowing that it has some frame rot. I'll probably cut out what's bad and see what i'm left with. If it's enough to safely plate i'll do that for now and safe T cap it next year. If it's too far gone i'll just order the Safe T cap and do that over the winter.
the plan right now is:
33x10.50x15 bfg's or coopers on stock wheels
2.5"-3" of lift
Eautogrilles rocker guards ($140 and i can cut out the rocker rust and use these to cover my body work)
basic pro comp bumpers
8,000 lb winch
rear D44 with 4.56's (already have this lined up)
Front 4.56's and lockrite
that's it. Keep it small and mellow. i think with some elbow grease it'll shine up pretty nice. The rust is what it is. But for the $ i couldn't pass it up.
