    annoying squeak from steering wheel

My 99 TJ's steering wheel squeaks like a mofo when it's really cold out. It's so loud that I can hear it and i'm practically deaf. I can tell it's coming from somewhere inside the jeep cuz if it was outside then I would not hear it. What in the interior portion of the steering column would cause a bad squeak when turning in any direction?

I too have a really annoying squeak in my Unlimited just when it's cold. But mine is only once moving and over 5-10 MPH. Doesn't go away when braking and/or turning. Replaced U-joints at the front wheels & rear drive shaft, still did it. Replaced fan and belt, still did it. Gonna try front trans case U-joint next.
Once it warms up, it's fine.
Could these squeaks be the "Jeep Thing"???

Keep the silicone out of the engine bay, it could much up the O2 sensors.

My XJ creaks like hell in the cold, I swear the window is about to burst.

My xj does it to, it's the clocking ring in the column, the only wat i know to fix it is to replace it. I'll deal with the noise till the buttons for my cruise stop working or the air bag light comes on.
